Karina Silva is a director of photography based out of Los Angeles, CA.  She graduated  from UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and has worked as a cinematographer on a variety of films, music videos and documentaries.

The Madrid native, although born in Miami, FL, is also a union camera operator working in the feature film and commercial world. Most recently, Karina has been operating on the new Lucasfilm/Disney+ original series, Star Wars: The Mandalorian. EP’d by Jon Favreau and lensed by Greig Fraser ACS, ASC.

In 2016, Karina received the prestigious Emerging Cinematographer Award for her documentary Doble 9, which focused on four Cuban exiles who find camaraderie within the domino club of Miami's Little Havana. Recently Karina was the cinematographer on the award winning feature film, Beauty Mark (2017), directed by Harris Doran. Beauty Mark is currently making its way through the film festival circuit this year and it premiered at the LA Film Festival. The film has won several awards so far, including Best Ultra Indie at the Woodstock Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Austin Film Festival.

Karina began working in 2014 as a camera operator on HBO’s series, Ballers; lensed by Tobias Schliessler A.S.C. and directed by Peter Berg. Later that year, Karina was one of the camera operators and splinter unit DP on Bill Condon’s film, Mr. Holmes (2015). Some of her most recent feature film credits include, Terminator (2020), Deepwater Horizon (2016), Megan Leavey (2016), Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (2017), Patriots Day (2017), Fast Color (2018), and 2nd unit DP on both Dog Days (2018) and #Twominutesoffame (2018).

Apart from her film career, Karina was an Olympic level diver. She has competed in over 15 countries, holds 14 Spanish national titles, the UCLA record on 10 meter platform, and 3 European Championship titles; one of which she holds the record in Spain for being the only female to win gold at a European championship.
