tom cross a.c.e.

Tom Cross is an American film editor. He began his career in 1997 as an assistant editor, contributing to such diverse projects such as We Own the NightCrazy Heart and the Primetime Emmy Award-Winning drama series Deadwood. Cross came to worldwide prominence in 2015 when he won the Independent Spirit Award for Best EditingBAFTA Award for Best Editing and the Academy Award for Best Editing (among other honors) for his work on the acclaimed film Whiplash. He was highly influenced by the editing styles of classic movies such as The Wild Bunch and The French Connection.

 

In 2016, Cross reunited with Writer/Director Damien Chazelle on the romantic musical comedy La La Land for which he was nominated again for an Academy Award, BAFTA Award and won The American Cinema Editor's Award. Cross then edited Hostiles which starred Christian Bale for Director Scott Cooper, First Man with Director Damien Chazelle for which Cross won a Critics Choice Award for Best Editing as well as received a BAFTA nomination and an ACE nomination, and No Time to Die for Cary Fukunaga, for which Cross won a BAFTA Award for Best Editing, and was nominated for the American Cinema Editors award.

 

Cross just finished editing Babylon, with director Damien Chazelle, for which he was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Editing. Tom is now available for spot work.
